In order to arouse students’ interest in reading and advance their abilities in data collection& data sorting, during the 14th and 15th weeks of the academic year, the Junior High Division in the east campus of Anqing Foreign Language School held an English Handcopied Paper Competition entitled ‘the Cultural Festival on Campus’. The purpose and principle being ‘Everyone Inheriting the Campus Culture’ and ‘Everyone Involved’ respectively, students were able to expand their horizon, form favorable writing habits and cultivate their comprehensive practical competency while learning English.
Initially, during the grand event, students took full advantage of their extracurricular time to gather relevant data, earnestly sort and design pictures as well as transcribe the interrelated data onto the sketch paper with delicate and adorable illustrations.
What’s more, after the fierce competition, students handed in their entries one after another. Afterwards, teachers from the English Department elaborately appraised and elected twenty works which were rich& colorful in content, original& unique in design and neatly& legibly written as well. Therefore, 12 students had the honor to obtain the first prizes. 14 students won the second prizes and the third-place awards went to 20 students.
All in all, not only did this informative event broaden students’ horizon, but also splendidly tested their skills of practice and thought, which constructed a rich reading atmosphere and stimulated students’ enthusiasm in learning civilized etiquette.
